Meet Your Art Mentor
Hi, I'm Allison and I'm really happy to join you here to make art!
As your art mentor, I believe we are all creative and it is artmaking is important source of personal power, a journey toward inner-knowledge and a beautiful process independent of the outcome. I am deeply inspired by the harmonious relationship between space, nature, and the profound emotional connections within art. These elements serve as the foundation of my pedagogical approach and artistic practice. By exploring the ways in which these components interact and influence each other, we can delve into creating art that not only captures the essence of our surroundings but also evokes a sense of emotion and connection. Through my work as a Professor of Art Methods at Montana State University, as a Teaching Artist across Montana, and as an Artist myself, I have had the privilege of guiding students in understanding the transformative power of art and self when rooted in the unity of space and nature.
In addition to my role as an educator, I am also an active artist known for my community murals and subtle bas-reliefs. These endeavors reflect my dedication to public art and the enhancement of communal spaces. By engaging with the public through large-scale murals or intricate bas-reliefs, I aim to create art that is not only visually captivating but also serves as a point of connection and reflection for those who encounter it. Through these projects, I seek to foster a sense of unity within communities and invite individuals to interact with art in a meaningful and accessible way.
Furthermore, my involvement as an Artist in Residence has allowed me to further explore the intersection of art and community engagement. Through collaborations with diverse groups and organizations, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of art in bringing people together and sparking important conversations. Whether through teaching, creating, or engaging with different communities, I am committed to using art as a vehicle for meaningful expression and connection. I look forward to sharing my insights and experiences with you as your art mentor, guiding you on your own creative journey filled with inspiration, exploration, and growth.
